Paper or Fabric Flowers

Posted by blue | DIY Projects | Friday 30 October 2009 1:36 pm

So cute and so easy!  Put these cute little flowers on everything from bridesmaids headbands to on your dress.  Also they make great wedding decorations when made out of huge pieces of paper.  Stick two flowers together to make a little puff balls that can hang from the ceiling.  Really the possibilities are endless! hummm maybe I should actually do my own tutorial on the huge puff balls…I just don’t know if you can picture my huge puff ball dream by the items down bellow.  Anyway these ones would be so great on headbands or boutonnieres.

This is a great book, my sister just bought it and is still goggling over it!

here is a tutorial on youtube

Fun With Pumpkins

Posted by blue | DIY Projects, Uncategorized | Thursday 29 October 2009 11:24 am

Maybe it’s a childhood love with Cinderella, but I think pumpkins are so romantic. Organic and so garish in color I can’t help but fall in love with having pumpkins be a cute and affordable way to decorate your wedding.  From name tag holders to a cooler to hold your drinks.  I also love how they cut out the letters to say I heart Tom, the thank you written on the pumpkins and my favorite the arrow telling your friends and family which way to go.  All such great ideas!

DIY Cake Stands

Posted by blue | DIY Projects | Monday 19 October 2009 11:08 am

My mom had this idea to use old vases, candle sticks, bowls, platters, and plates to make cake stands.  We use double stick foam tape to hold the plates to the vases.  It worked really well, but did leave some stick behind.  We used gue be gone to remove it.  My mom, who is amazingly talented at crafts, said that flourist tacky would work really well also, and wouldn’t leave the gue behind.  I loved the idea of using my moms collection of antique glass for a vintage theme.  But you could also use any glass you could find.  I’m actually suprised by all the cute glass sundae dishes, wine glasses and plates you can find at dollar tree.  And of coarse thirft stores are full of fun glass dishes.  Take a look at how cute it turned out.

I think this thought bubble is awesome!

Posted by blue | DIY Projects | Saturday 10 October 2009 9:12 pm

I have always heard that you could buy chalk board paint, but I never knew what I would do with it.  When I saw this idea I thought it was so much fun.  All it is is a piece of foam core board that the bride cut out and painted with chalk board paint.  The couple then invited guests to write advice/something funny and take a photo.  I wish I would have thought of this for my wedding!is is a totally awesome blog for brides located in Uah.  We do designer weddings for less and come up with cool ideas that you can make yourself for youwedding.

Real Life Weddings

Posted by blue | Local Vendors, Real-Life Weddings | Friday 9 October 2009 1:38 pm

When I first saw this wedding by Tavis Johnson I excitedly called my husband over to look at it. The first thing I said was, “do you think this reception was in a church gym?, I can’t tell.” I have always heard that no amount of streamers, paper lanterns, and balloons could ever hide that fact you had your wedding in the cultural hall. But I have to give it up for this couple because they pulled it off or at least I think they have. I mean I really still can’t tell if it was at a church. My husband and I’s conversation went something like this, “look at the ceiling–but look at the floor.” I guess the jury is still out on this one. Anyway, I stared at these photos forever trying to determine the choices they made to make this wedding so spectacular. Here are some of the details I noticed that really do make the reception. They brought in a nice table and chairs for the bride and grooms table, I’m guessing everybody’s mom has a nice dinning room table they could do this with. It’s such a little detail but it makes for gorgeous photos. I love her simple place settings and how she tied the napkins together with a little string and a white feather. Details give photographers something to focus on and illustrate a beautiful storyline. It’s brilliant how they used the long tables. The potted plants that they put up by the stage curtain are a really cute touch. And the lighting is awesome, who knew you could hang your own chandelier! Tavis did such an amazing job! If there is one area to splurge in it I would have to be photography. Images like these just don’t happen. Take a look for yourself down bellow.
