Ok, I must say that I love Opie photography.  Not only is she an awesome photographer but she really gets to know her clients and connects with them.  It actually makes my job a lot easier, because she posts the couples’ story on her blog along with where they booked all the details for their wedding.  I wish I had photographs of this, because Michael proposed in the cutest way.  Opie said this about it on her blog, “Mike likes to draw. He drew a series of pictures that illustrated their sordid affair and had them bound in hardcover as childrens’ book. The last page was him, on one knee, proposing.”  I have to say, Vanessa–he’s a keeper!

Love the bouquet!  My sister told me you could buy bags of buttons at the DI in Provo.  She said that whenever clothing is too old to sell they strip the buttons and sell them.  I tried my Dessert Industries in Salt Lake City and they didn’t have any. If anybody knows for sure let me know.  I’m just trying to help!

MMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm…….cookie dough!  Is the thought every time I pass Dough Girl.  How could you go wrong with gourmet cookie dough?!  Wait I forgot they do actual cookies too.  I, myself, have never made cookies that lasted past the dough stage…ok I have, but it took all the self control I could muster!  Anyway, I love cookies and Dough Girl’s are to die for.  So much for that I would encourage you to forgo your wedding cake and have a cookie cake.  Everybody knows that cookies are better than cake.  I think it’s because you get more sugar and butter per bite, cake has far too much air!  Besides look how cute they are!

When I first saw this wedding by Tavis Johnson I excitedly called my husband over to look at it. The first thing I said was, “do you think this reception was in a church gym?, I can’t tell.” I have always heard that no amount of streamers, paper lanterns, and balloons could ever hide that fact you had your wedding in the cultural hall. But I have to give it up for this couple because they pulled it off or at least I think they have. I mean I really still can’t tell if it was at a church. My husband and I’s conversation went something like this, “look at the ceiling–but look at the floor.” I guess the jury is still out on this one. Anyway, I stared at these photos forever trying to determine the choices they made to make this wedding so spectacular. Here are some of the details I noticed that really do make the reception. They brought in a nice table and chairs for the bride and grooms table, I’m guessing everybody’s mom has a nice dinning room table they could do this with. It’s such a little detail but it makes for gorgeous photos. I love her simple place settings and how she tied the napkins together with a little string and a white feather. Details give photographers something to focus on and illustrate a beautiful storyline. It’s brilliant how they used the long tables. The potted plants that they put up by the stage curtain are a really cute touch. And the lighting is awesome, who knew you could hang your own chandelier! Tavis did such an amazing job! If there is one area to splurge in it I would have to be photography. Images like these just don’t happen. Take a look for yourself down bellow.

It’s my opinion that everybody deserves a beautiful wedding.  It’s the day that little girls dream of since–I don’t know, conception?  And it should be full of little details that make you smile.  And while I think everybody realizes that not all their wildest dreams will materialize on their wedding day, I don’ think it should be your budget holding you back.  No, I’m not saying that one should spend a fortune or go into debt.  But with a little ingenuity and elbow grease I plan to show you ways to obtain those wedding dreams.  The weddings I showcase will be real life weddings done on daddy’s (ummm tight?) budget–or heaven forbid yours!  And the blog will be filled with DIY’s that give you a sophisticated look for less.  Come on girls let’s share those bright ideas….because all weddings could use a little blue.
