DIY pie, I don’t know about you but I’m still loving left over pie!

Posted by blue | inspiration | Monday 30 November 2009 9:29 pm

As you can tell from my absence from my lovely blog that I had a really great Thanksgiving!  And one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving is pie!  I love it, and I always save room for it.  My husband never saves room for dessert and it baffels me.  It’s not like pie on Thanksgiving is a surprise.  Just writing about pie makes me want to get up and grab a slice.  I did have a pie bake off with my sister-in-law this year and if I do say so myself I make a pretty tasty pie crust!  I decided to share my recipe in case reading this post made you feel like eating pie too!

Pie Crust

2 cups flour

1 cup shortening

1/2 cup water

2 teaspoons salt

and for you math wizards out there that’s twice as much flour as shortening, twice as much shortening as water, and as many teaspoons salt as you have cups flour… It’s an easy recipe to double.

Getting married in a cultural hall? Embrace it!

Posted by blue | inspiration | Friday 13 November 2009 12:57 pm

Having a reception in a cultural hall this winter?  Don’t be embarrassed–embrace it!  So instead of a faux ceiling hiding the basketball hoop, why not take photos in front of it? Great and fun photos can be taken anywhere.  And necessity brings out some of the best creativity.  If you have a fun cultural hall wedding feel free to email me here info (at) blue light bride (dot) com.

DIY Project: Wood Name Cards

Posted by blue | DIY Projects, inspiration | Saturday 7 November 2009 8:40 am

I loved this craft from Alison Shoffer’s blog.  And it’s so easy to do!  I think I might even steal the idea and do cute gift tags for Christmas presents.  When I see things like this I’m always kinda mad I didn’t think of it first, but hey it’s awesome so who cares right?!

Lovely Lemon, Very Pretty

Posted by blue | inspiration | Thursday 5 November 2009 8:37 am

I’m always a fan of saving money and one way to do that at a wedding it to use fruit instead of flowers. And the lemon is so cute right now. And while they seem like a summer fruit, what with all the lemonade stands and all. They actually are in season year round. Ok, maybe that is stretching it….I just thought they were so cute that I had to do a post about them. I will do some more winter-ee posts for you December brides soon!
